Changes in diastolic stiffness and tone of the left ventricle during angina pectoris.

چکیده
Reported elevations of left ventricular filling pressures during angina suggest increased myocardial stiffness. Both left ventricular beginningand end-diastolic pressures and volumes were measured in seven patients before, during, and after angina induced by atrial pacing. During nine episodes of angina, mean end-diastolic pressure rose from 12 to 29 mm Hg and ejection fraction fell from 0.47 to 0.37. Logarithms of beginning and end-diastolic pressures were plotted against the corresponding volumes for each angiogram. During angina, there was a marked in-

Increased regional myocardial stiffness of the left ventricle during pacing-induced angina in man.
The left ventricular diastolic pressure-volume relationship shifts upward during angina, but why this happens is not known. To assess regional myocardial stiffness, we studied 12 patients who had coronary artery disease using simultaneous left ventricular micromanometer pressure recording and M-mode echocardiography before and during angina induced by pacing tachycardia. All patients had two- o...
متن کاملLeft ventricular filling and early diastolic function at rest and during angina in patients with coronary artery disease.
Left ventricular diastolic function was studied in 11 patients with coronary artery disease. Single plane ventriculography (30 degrees right anterior oblique projection) was performed at rest and during an episode of angina immediately after a period of rapid atrial pacing. Left ventricular pressure was recorded simultaneously by a micromanometer tipped catheter. The ventriculograms were digiti...

متن کاملHaemodynamic events in right and left ventricle during angina induced by atrial pacing.
Atrial pacing to the point of angina or up to a maximum rate of 166/min was carried out in 37 patients during coronary angiography. In 9 patients with normal coronary arteries both the right and left ventricular end-diastolic pressures fell remained steady with increasing heart rate. The same response was observed in 14 patients with angiographically proven coronary artery disease. In the rema...
متن کاملLeft ventricular hemodynamics in exercise-induced angina pectoris.
SUMMARY The sequence of events characterizing the onset and course of exercise-induced angina pectoris was studied in 10 patients with ischemic heart disease during cardiac catheterization. Exercise produced a precipitous rise in left ventricular end-diastolic pressure prior to the onset of angina and electrocardiographic ischemia. A corresponding abnormal increase in pulmonary artery pressure ...
